Once thought lost, the manuscript for Go Set a Watchman will be published in its entirety, without revision. It is said to offer additional detail to the original story of Scout Finch, the protagonist of To Kill a Mockingbird, and while written before Mockingbird was published, follows an adult Scout back to Mockingbird’s setting of Maycomb, AL, to deal with the political and social issues addressed in the first book; this time Scout Finch is more removed from the topics, coming home from a new life in New York.
Those who are following Watchman’s story are looking forward to a book will certainly be successful based on its topic and authorship. Harper Lee won a Pulitzer Prize for the first novel in 1961, shortly after the work was published.
