Tere is a tiny woman with a fierce will to live. She has a great sense of humor, a tinkling laugh and a beautiful smile. She is optimism at its best.
Tere has needed that optimism following a car accident in Portland, Oregon seven years ago. Her joy for life has carried her through numerous surgeries, many hospitalizations due to complications, and declining mobility. Now, Tere is on the verge of losing the safety and security of her home and transportation without our help.
The accident shattered Tere’s atlas above her C1 and C2 vertebrae leaving her debilitated and in constant pain. She made a partial recovery, had complications and additional surgeries, her mobility was reduced to a cane, and then subsequent difficulties confined her to a wheel chair.
A major setback occurred in 2011 when Tere was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclersosis), a terminal kidney disease that has left her with less than one-half of her kidney function. In June of 2012, after an 8-month bout in the hospital, she became bed and wheelchair bound. Please take the time to go to this website and check out the rest of her story.
