Tie Clips Tips: All The Things You Need to Know

Posted On //
Tie clip is an accessory used to prevent a tie from moving and/or dangling around by holding the tie to to a dress code. Also known as "tie bar". It makes one looks neater and professional.

Perhaps some of us do have tie clip(s), but like many people, we just wear it as we sees it fits. We don't really know whether is it the correct way. We don't even know much about tie clip(s). As long as it looks good, it serves the purpose, we are fine with it.

Below are some of the common question(s) that might or might not come into your minds when you use and/or decide to purchase a tie clip.
1. Does the width of the tie clip affect your look?
Yes it does! It really depends on your tie width to be honest. The perfect length of a tie clip is it should not be too close to the middle of your tie, neither it should be too close to the edge. The length of the clip typically should be three quater of the width of the tie.
2. Which position shall I clip the tie?
It is adviseable to position in between the 3rd and 4th button. However, if you think that you need to lower it little more, you may do so as you see fits.
3. Does the colour of the tie clip matters?
It is recommended that you match the colour of your tie clip to your dress code buttons, watch, belt, etc. You may also consider the colour of your tie when making a decision. If you do not know what colour to choose, it is safe to go with a silver or gold tie clip.
4. When do I have to wear a tie clip?
That is a subjective question. It really depends on when do you want to look neat? If you want to look neat, smart & professional all the time, it is recommended to wear it always whenever you wear a tie. You do not want your tie to dip into you drinks, do you? You do not want your tie to cover your face when you bend down and pick up your dropped item(s), do you? If so, grab a tie clip today, and stay neat! :)
