Grand Canyon One Day Trip

Chopper through the canyon… Boat down the river… & Walk on a glass bridge… All in a Grand Canyon one day trip!

Grand Canyon one day tripSo we decided if we’re gonna do a Grand Canyon one day trip, lets do the full deal…. 2helicopter rides, boat ride down the river,“glass bridge” Skywalk Experience… THE FULL DEAL! The BEST part? I GOT TO DRIVE THE TOUR BOAT DOWN THE COLORADO!!!
The “West Rim Do-It-All Tour” is a Grand Canyon one day trip that normally runs about $459 a pop but you can find it on sale as low as $280 – $300 if you book direct instead of a hotel. This is an absolute bargain for the experience!
So we meet at the Planet Hollywood Casino in “Vegas” for our Grand Canyon one day trip. They let you grab a few little snacks like apple juice, donuts, and chips, pick us up in a huge charter bus, and head to the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead & Joshua Tree Forest with a couple stops for picturesNow off to the west rim of the Grand Canyon!

The chopper & boat ride start our Grand Canyon one day trip

First!!…. helicopter ride 4000 ft down to the bottom of the canyon!!! Taking off and
grand Canyon one day tripflying 40 ft above the ground towards the edge… not so scary, but the moment you get over that edge and look 4000 ft down, BREATHTAKING!!! Now we fly down through the canyon for a landing aside the Colorado River. Next is the boat ride down the river, this was my favorite part!… So we’re cruisin’ down the river and the tour guide tells me to sit in the drivers seat to take a
Grand Canyon one day trip
picture. After the pic, he says “you’re gonna hit the wall”. (In other words… drive the boat!) He let me drive the tour boat down the famous Colorado River! Now foranother helicopter ride back to the top of the canyon for the next two activities…

Skywalk & Hualapais on our Grand Canyon one day trip

OK, it’s time to walk out over the edge of a 4000 ft cliff with nothing but a few inches of"Falling into the Canyon"glass holding you from dropping into the roaring river below…If your the type to tippy-toe through the tulips, this isn’t for you! So the day before, they had replaced the top layer of glass because it gets scratched over time, so every step we took, you would hear; CRUUNCH!!! SCRAATCH!!! SQUEEAK!!! This was an amazing feeling, looking straight down, past your feet through the glass to bottom of the canyon! Looking across, you can see where the canyon forms the shape of an eagle overlooking the river, they call this part of the west rim Eagle Point. They offer a printed photo package & USB drive for an extra 100 bucks with some beautiful shots well worth the money. Get these for sure!
Now on our Grand Canyon one day trip, its time for BBQ lunch next to theUp to the Edge edge of the canyon at Guano Point. (Ya, it means bat crap, but it’s absolutely beautiful!) Here, noone’s to stop you from walking right up to the edge of the cliff, no rails, no chains…. NOTHING BUT A 3500 ft CLIFF! BBQ chicken & "Lunch on the Edge"baby back ribs, corn on the cob, BBQ baked beans, corn bread and all kinds of drinks! I was very surprised at the quality of the food…. Excellent! Last part of our Grand Canyon one day trip is the Indian Ranch where we meet the Hualapais and learn a bit about their culture. Suits of deerskin, rabbit-skin robes, and intense tribal dances…
Make sure you bring a decent camera and one thing I would have done different wasbring a tripod, we didn’t have a tripod and kept handing over our camera to strangers or setting it on the ground to take a pic with both of us in it. You can pick one up at Target for like $10 – $15. Remember, this is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and will probably be one of the very few, if not the only experience you’ll have here on a Grand Canyon one day trip.
