Program/Production Summary
“This Is Your American Dream” is a reality-based television series that promotes volunteerism to provide free and clear homes to economically disadvantaged families and military veterans throughout the United States who have lost their homes due to economic hardships, unforeseen circumstances or never have had a home to call their own.
This series is an unintentional spinoff of the highly publicized reality television series “Extreme Makeover” which focused on existing homes, programs and projects.
Every episode of “This Is Your American Dream” will feature the audience selected family from the “This Is Your American Dream” website and their circumstances of hardship such as loss of jobs, wounded veteran, homelessness or a family member with a life-threatening illness or disability, in need of a new start. During the episode viewers will be educated on different causes such as Breast Cancer or Autism, HIV /AIDS, Multiple sclerosis, etc. At points the audience will be challenged on their knowledge.
“This Is Your American Dream” is a platform that offers the opportunity to own piece of the American dream. This show is not only about taking deserving families from the pits of poverty to the power of prosperity in one show but providing them with the tools to maintain and skills to progress in society.
A majority of the homes will be donated or foreclosed properties in under privileged areas that would not have otherwise been revived. Our team has a combined experience of over 25 years in the construction / Real estate industry. The materials and labor are donated and many skilled and unskilled volunteers assist in the supervised rapid construction of the home. This gives back to the community in the form of state revenue which in turn the state can provide better living conditions for its constituents. And when the community sees the growth they are more willing to work together to keep it a better place to live. This is a win-win situation for everyone.
The show's producers coordinate and establish a partnership with the state and/ or banks to obtain abandoned and foreclosed home. The donated/ foreclosed homes will be repaired upgraded and furnished in its entirety to include interior restructuring, exterior improvement and landscaping with an embedded “green” component. The show’s on-staff interior decorator will coordinate the final touches but there is a “Twist”! The audience through the “This Is Your American Dream” website will be the deciding factor on the transition of the home from the exterior to the interior making recommendations on what changes, additions and improvements to be made to the home include furniture, color of the walls etc.
“This Is Your American Dream” is made possible by sponsors and donations. The show establishes relationships with the local construction contractors to coordinate with various companies in the building trades to help accomplish the task at hand. The show will accept online nominations for needy families from their community. Each nominated family will go through a screening process supported by a volunteer group who supports their nomination. Sponsors will be afforded advertising dependent upon what they have donated to the newly renovated home such as legal services, furniture, appliances, electronics, vacation getaways, cars, clothing, toys, job training, counseling, insurance programs, financial services, workforce counseling, construction, home improvement and other services.

The overall goals of the program are to revive volunteerism in America, but more importantly bring attention to the growing problems of homelessness and the economic hardships facing many families throughout the nation. While we will provide free "green" homes to the families, the major motivation behind the program is to provide opportunities for volunteerism and to promote charitable giving throughout the nation at a time when communities are banding together to help each other in the face of dwindling social service funding.
The equation of volunteerism being renewed, communities being rebuilt, revenue generated for the state through otherwise idle property, causes receiving well deserved recognition through education of the audience, families receiving a “free and clear” place to call home, counseling and/or other survival skills brings hope to what could otherwise be hopeless situation and proves that through generosity of our viewers that “Even YOU can make a difference!”
How America Selects a Family:
Every week on www.ThisIsYourAmericanDream.com (10) families/groups from the same state are nominated and displayed on the homepage, with their video story profiles explaining why they think they deserve to have a home. Each of the (10) families will be distinctly different, except for ONE common theme (i.e.: All the families have a member who is a wounded veteran, or a member with cancer, or were homeless at some point in time etc.). Once again people at home will vote for the family best deserving of this gift of homeownership.
Film & Production:
Production: We plan to begin production within 90 days once the first round of funding is secured. A script writer develops the concept based on the theme. The first cause and the city will be displayed on the website and announced on the all social media and the local radio stations. The goal is to reach out to a cross-section of viewers because of the diverse nature of the program. We can fuse a good storyline that takes us across many diverse subjects all centered around civic involvement
Concept:
We will break down Your American Dream into three major parts during production:
Scenery: We believe we can really capture the audience by bringing the flavor of different cultures and different parts of the country through the story-line. We will go from the rural Appalachia into urban areas such as Baltimore and the District of Columbia. Some of the cities where we plan to shoot, include, but not limited to Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit, Baltimore, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Boise, Idaho, Philadelphia and Chicago. Wherever there is need, we will go. Much however will depend on the community support and housing inventory that we have available to us. Our viewers will have an opportunity to travel to some of the most interesting places and neighborhoods in the nation, but with an extra caveat. We get to direct the storyline.
Families: Each show as we mentioned before will highlight a struggling family and their struggle to regain their economic foothold in the community where they live.
Community: From businesses to regular Joe’s, who are concerned about their neighbors, viewers get a glimpse of neighborhood activism and charitable service at work.
History/Background: We educate our viewers about different neighborhoods while showing them innovative ways to purchase homes and to renovate them as well.
